“The good news is that you don’t know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is!” -Anne Frank

COMMENT: Harvard psychologist Daniel Gilbert surveyed 19,000 people of all ages across the country and asked them to report how much they changed during the past 10 years and to predict how much they would change during the next 10 years. The graph below, from an article he published in Science magazine, shows the results. Regardless of age, everyone thinks the present is a watershed moment and that they have finally become the person they will always be. However, as Anne Frank so poignantly observed, we really have no idea. Ten years from now you will have goals, accomplishments, and relationships you could never imagine for yourself today. Be open to that change. Embrace it.
